BGS U15 31 Crossley Heath 10

This was another strong performance for the U15s. They looked dangerous from the start, and Crossley Heath were unable to cope with the open, free flowing rugby played by the home side. They dominated the first half with fantastic rugby, the ball moving rapidly around the pitch to stretch the defence. Only the odd handling error and forward pass, when supporting players failed to find some depth, stopped the half time score being any bigger. Fullback Obi Ene was a constant threat when running from deep and the first try came from his unselfish pass back inside to Amrit Sharma. This was followed by 2 tries to Tom Celik before he succumbed to a calf injury. The first was an impressive solo effort, shrugging off the challenge of a number of defenders, the second a simple touch down over the line following good hands across the backline. Captain Alfie Weston also added to his try tally before the half time whistle.

The opposition made a better effort in the second half, following a number of changes to the BGS side. Strong running lead to two close range tries and only some excellent defence prevented further scores. They actually won the second half 10 - 7, though BGS never looked in any real danger of defeat. A try for Lui Shivtiel rounded off the scoring for BGS but they should have scored more tries in the second half. A tough away fixture at Stoneyhurst next weekend should test their ability to finish off opportunities.
